Polar Analytics review

The unified data platform powering omnichannel growth for modern consumer brands.

By Dana Rourke, Lead reviewer. Reviewed by Campaign Buyer Editorial. Updated 8 September 2026.

Our verdict

It is the pick if you run a Shopify store doing real revenue and want to build your own BI dashboards on first-party attribution, rather than live in a prebuilt operator screen. The catch is the bill. Core starts at $750 and is billed on your GMV, so a smaller shop pays more than the data is worth, and reviewers say it tightens up once your attribution needs get deep.

Polar is the attribution tool for the brand that has outgrown a fixed dashboard and wants to build its own. It pulls Shopify, Meta, Google, Klaviyo and the rest into one place and lets a data-literate operator assemble custom reports, closer to a business-intelligence layer than a single profit screen. Its attribution runs off a first-party pixel fed server-side, and Polar is honest that the numbers are directional rather than exact, which is the right way to read any of these tools.

For a Shopify brand doing real GMV that wants reporting flexibility and a team that will use it, that is the draw, and the Shopify App Store rating backs it up at 4.9 across 117 ratings. Setup and data centralization are the parts buyers praise most.

The honest cost is money and depth. Core opens at $750 a month and scales with your GMV, which is why buyers on Reddit call revenue-linked pricing a tax and why a smaller store overpays for it. And the recurring critique is that it is strong for visual reporting but gets restrictive once you need deep or custom attribution, where a purpose-built tool does more. Support is praised overall, but hands-on account help only arrives on a $10,000 contract, and reviewers below that report slow responses on connector problems.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Pulls Shopify, ad platform and email or SMS data into custom dashboards you build yourself, not a fixed template, with unlimited users and historical data on the Core plan
  • First-party pixel and server-side tracking, so the numbers survive the browser better than a pixel-only setup
  • Rated 4.9 out of 5 across 117 Shopify App Store ratings, with setup and data centralization the most-praised parts

What to watch

  • Core opens at $750 a month and is priced on your GMV, so the bill climbs with revenue and a small store overpays
  • Buyers report it gets restrictive when you need deep or custom attribution, where Triple Whale goes wider on ecommerce metrics and Northbeam goes deeper on modeling
  • A dedicated success manager only arrives at a $10,000 annual contract, and some reviewers below that flag slow support and connector delays

What buyers keep saying

Research: unverified

A polished Shopify native reporting layer, not a deep attribution engine

Operators who ran both Polar and Triple Whale describe Polar as strong for visual reporting with a fast, one-click Shopify setup, but they hit a ceiling when they need messy custom attribution or business-specific nuance. It centralizes data well; it is not the tool people reach for when attribution logic gets complicated.

“i've actually used both, and while polar is definitely solid for visual reporting and has that "one-click" shopify feel, it can sometimes feel a bit restrictive if you need to go deep into the messy attribution stuff.”

“I've used both, ultimately they get you so far but start to fall down when you need any form of customisation or nuance applied to your business.”

GMV based pricing feels like a revenue tax at Plus scale ↓ common complaint

The loudest recurring complaint is the pricing model. A Shopify Plus operator reported being quoted around $20k a year for Polar, and merchants object to analytics apps charging off gross merchandise value rather than the reporting they actually consume. Below serious scale the cost is hard to justify.

“I keep getting contacted by triple whale, we would need to pay a minimum of 30k a year for it. Polar analytics would be in the 20k a year range.”

“Don't even get me started on the analytics apps that base the cost off of GMV.”

Flexible, editable reports and support are the repeated praise ↑ frequently praised

Users like that Polar lets you build and edit any report rather than living inside fixed dashboards, and support comes up as a strength (the point the founder leans on when explaining Triple Whale switchers). Treat the founder's claim as biased, but the flexible-reporting point is echoed by independent users.

“We use first-party attribution and conversion API similarly, but some people prefer our UX, which tends to be more intuitive and flexible. (You can build and edit any report).”

Pricing

Polar Analytics does not publish a public price. Pricing is quote-based.

Pricing is tiered by annual gross merchandise value and quoted after a demo, and the pricing page publishes no dollar figure. The Core Plan bundles Business Intelligence, AI Agents and Data Activations, which the vendor says saves 20% on buying the products one by one. The Custom Plan lets a buyer pick products. Every plan includes a dedicated Snowflake database, an ecommerce semantic layer, a first-party pixel, unlimited users, unlimited historical data and a dedicated success manager. An instant demo runs on sample data without signup.
